Big Update - Picture Recap of July 2012

There is a lot I have skipped writing about these past few months (my last big update was way back at the end of June). In an effort to catch up a little, here is a really big (and chronological) update to skim the highlights of our summer.

4th - Independence Day

Jess, Ray and the kids spent most of the day with us swimming, eating, and reading Friends trivia cards.

Poppy and Oliver took a late morning nap before festivities

I made a yummy blueberry Coleslaw

Moms fruit pizza! I'd been wanting one for 10 years
(I made the gluten-free sugar cookie crust - so good)

Oliver was very fascinated with Poppy grilling outside.

After the H's left, Oliver went down for a nap, Mom and Dad worked on the very patriotic American flag puzzle (impossible and annoying) and I began reading The Passage by Justin Cronin (I thought it was agonizingly slow and overly-detailed at parts, but overall still an interesting read. Sequel comes out October 16)

Oliver, his Nook, and his Poppy. Happy times.

8th - Oliver's big play date

We met up with Jess and some of her friends form church at a new play place in Wiregrass Mall. Oliver was very unsure at first, but he warmed up to it and we played on eeeeverything. They had the best slides.

Mr. Cool

Jessica also got a few photos of me and my boy playing together

9th - Framed one of my new designs from my propaganda series

15th - Oliver with his toddler rhyme Bible and dapper church atire

17th - Visit with Marky-Mark & Dar-Dar (my friend Keith's parents and essentially Oliver's other "grandparents" :)

20th - Shopping with Addison at Target.

23rd - I saw a cloud that looked like a dolphin

25th - Oliver's first movie theater experience

A nearby theater shows kids movies for free in the summer so we saw Clifford the Big Red Dog with Jess and her kids (and also met up with another friend and her little ones). The movie was torturous. Oliver loved it for 30 minutes (mostly because I brought all sorts of snacks for him) and then he just wanted to climb on everything. Jess had picked us up so we paced the halls until the movie was over. Memorable, indeed.

Hilarious faces.

The boy and his food.

One of the cutest things I've ever seen.

27th - Another visit to Orlando.

Music man needs a piano AND a keyboard.

29th - Made it back to Tampa and got a total surprise visit from my friends Shirlee and Esteven!

They live on the other side of the state but were driving nearby after staying at a hotel for their anniversary. We went out to First Watch for lunch (I love breakfast food) and then spent the afternoon watching Doctor Who and talking about aliens and UFO's. There was also coffee and chocolate involved. It made my day week month.

And I will cut the update off here and pick up with a recap of August later :)

Blueberry coleslaw? Sounds very interesting! I think I want to try it. :)

I've been wondering where you've been! I know you're crazy busy with the Etsy shop, though. :)

Great post/photos! Man, Oliver seems so much older! You are one brave woman to attempt a movie outing. If Margot watches anything, it is either on my lap on my phone (for moments) or I have to put her in the Pack 'n Play with a super short video. They're just so busy and intrigued by everything else, I guess.

Anyway, it's good to see you around. :)

@Samantha - Here is the blueberry coleslaw recipe:

Only I cut back to about 2 tsp of red wine vinegar instead of 2 tbsp. I had to make the batch of dressing twice because I followed directions the first time, but luckily tasted it before pouring it on the cabbage. It was so bad! But it's just tangy enough with 2 tsp :)

Thanks! I hope to update a little more frequently, but yes, just super busy with Etsy.

It's funny because I'm online nearly all day, but never for blogging. It's all emails, and research and networking and editing listings and blah blah blah. Fun most of the time, tedious at others, and always time consuming.

Anyway, I hope to get back into blogging more regularly :)

I was just going to ask you for the blueberry coleslaw recipe and then I saw your reply above. Sounds fantastic!
